Sveinbjargargerði Countryhotel is located close to highway one and is only in a 10 minute driving distance from Akureyri. We offers 39 double rooms and 5 single rooms; all rooms are all en-suited. The hotel has a resturant that seats prox. 100 people and is perfect for company balls as well as any kind of meetings that your company might enquire, large or small. We offer a relaxing atmosphere by the fireplace after a hard days work, have a nightcap or just to read a book. The fireplaces are located both in the lounge as well as the dining hall.
The view over Eyjafjörð is exceptional and we have different distractions in a close driving distance to occupy your time during your stay. Akureyri is know for their art and cultural events; both conventional such as the Akrueyris drama club which puts on plays at the local theater as well as the independent artist that perform or exhibit their art at the town square. In Iceland we have warm outdoor swimming pools all year around and we have three in the area around the hotel. One is in Akureyri, Dalvík and Þelamörk. Spring, summer, winter ore fall are perfect for romantic walks in the mountains and the Traveling company of Akureyri has published great walking maps that include the best paths to take along with the history of the place you are walking around. A trip to Hrísey is a memorable family trip especially during spring and fall when the birdlife is at its best.
In the winter time you can take unforgettable skiing trips in one of our best slops located in Akureyri and Dalvík. An hour away we have Mývatnssveit which is especially beautiful at that time of year. There you can take a sledding trips as well as other kind of distractions.
